Rainer Werner Fassbinder was a German director who completed more than forty films, though he died young at the age of thirty-seven. His one science-fiction film from 1973 pre-dates both The Matrix and Blade Runner in theme and concept by decades. The shot shown here is typical of his use of creative camera movement. Watch the secretary as the camera revolves around the two main players. It ends in the exactly the same position as it began.
