Charles Bukowski is not to everyone’s taste, but stands as one of a kind among good writers. Factotum is one of his few novels. Barfly. a film collage expertly assembled by director Barbet Schroeder, has Mickey Rourke as Bukowski. Here it’s Matt Dillon, a more subdued, but no less strange, version of the writer. In this scene he applies for work at a pickle factory. Dry humor at its best.
