Setup: An artist lives her life painting in a secluded house in the upper New York woods. She has informed the killer’s wife that he might be responsible for several recent murders. The artist also has a budding relationship with the detective seeking evidence of the killer’s guilt. In this scene he approaches her house with possible murderous intent. The tension between them once he’s inside her studio is about as strong as it gets. The way they interact in dialogue and movement binds the viewer who has absolutely no idea of the outcome. Matt Bomer (whom I remember from the light TV series White Collar) and Jessica Hecht, an astounding performer I’m not familiar with but certainly am now, both deserve Emmys for their performances.
