Kurosawa and his most famous movie. What gets me about this scene is the effect of the music and the rugged, natural setting itself followed by a the look inside the bandits den where bodies drape over one another like snakes. This renders an utterly primitive and, in its way erotic mood. Toward the end of the scene, the raiders set fire to the hold, a woman runs out, completely traumatized by her time in captivity. It’s the wife of one of the samurai. They recognize one another.
